2010年～ 外国語学部が学生と教員が英語と中国語で会話するための「英語・中国語ラウンジ」を設置。
2012年～ 外国語学部教員テイラー・クレアが自己の研究費を使ってラウンジを改造し、学生ボランティアのチームを結成。
2013~ 外国語学部教員テイラー・クレアが本ウェブページを立ち上げ、自己の研究費を使ってラウンジを整備。
2013年（6月）ASEAN10の奨学生が訪問。ラウンジでお茶会を楽しむ。
2014年～ 外国語学部資金により、週15時間ラウンジで働く専門スタッフを採用。
2014年（4月）マレーシアからのASEAN奨学生がラウンジを訪問。
2015年～ 外国語学部教員テイラー・クレアがタンデムラーニング（Tandem Learning,Teletandem）活動を立ち上げ。
2016~ 英語ボランティア活動（学生がラウンジのスタッフやイベントを企画する）を単位取得可能化。
2016年～ 外国語学部がラウンジを改装。スタッフや雑誌などのリソースに継続的な予算計画を作成。 これは外国語学部の特別プロジェクトとなる。ラウンジは全面がガラス張り、床はカーペットにリフォーム。「Lounge MELT（Maximum English Learning Together）」 という新しい名前が誕生。ラウンジの暖かさとコミュニティの重要性を示すとともに、ラウンジがあらゆる学部の学生と教員が混ざり合うメルティングポットであることから、学生たちがこの名前を決定。 MELTには、学期中毎日10時から17時までスタッフが常駐。
2017年（5月）テレタンデムパートナーであるメキシコ国立自治大学（UNAM）のアデリア・ペーニャ・クラベル教授がMELTを訪問。
2018年（6月）テレタンデムパートナーであるシンシナティ大学の藤岡伊都典子教授がMELTを訪問。
2019年~ テレタンデムの活動を継続。外国語学部の要請により、大学側はテレタンデムを運営するために長期休暇中もMELTにスタッフを配置する予算を提供。
2019年～ MELTのインスタグラム開始。
2019年（月）「MELTで日本語、話そう！」ホツマ・インターナショナルスクール岐阜校の留学生と本学学生による交流会。
2020~ COVID-19感染拡大防止のため、バーチャルMELTを設置。
2020年～ MELT Annex開設。外国語学部が、MELTの隣の空き部屋（元保健室）を改装して、静かな学習スペースであるMELT Annexの設置計画を作成、テイラー・クレア准教授と長尾純准教授が設計。 外国語学部がAnnexの使用用途でiMacやその他の家具を購入。
2021年～ 新たに中国・天津外国語大学と提携したことにより日中タンデムラーニング交流がスタート。
2021年～本学学生が天津外国語大学の学生とオンラインで交流するイベント「日本語会話コーナー」がスタート。
2021年（6月）「日本語で友だち、作ろう！」さくら日本語学校の留学生と本学学生との初のズーム交流会開始。（その後恒例のイベントとなった。）
2022年~ 「多言語MELT」がスタート。
